About

On August 16, 1963 in Gainesville, Georgia, a seven pound eight ounce boy was born to Tandy and Frances Kerns. They named him Clint William Kerns. Clint, after Tandy’s boss, Clint Puckett, and William because it was Tandy’s middle name. Tandy and Frances were both in thier forties and Clint would be the only child they had. From the time he was two weeks old he was raised in church. At the time of his birth his parents were attending Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. They would continue there until Clint was around the age of five when they moved thier membership to Temple Baptist Church where Dr. James Ransom was the Pastor.

At the age of 10 during Vacation Bible School, Clint went to the altar because several of his friends went. Clint made a profession and was baptized, but was not really saved. But on October 21, 1979 at the age of 16 while walking down the street at the Gold Mining festival in Dahlonega, Georgia, the Holy Spirit put Clint under conviction. He left the festival, went home and that night at Temple Baptist Church Clint gave his heart and life to the Lord Jesus.

A few months later in December, Clint surrendered to the call to Preach and on January 16, 1980 he preached his first sermon. On October 21, 1980 Clint’s Dad, Tandy, had a massive heart attack and went home to be with the Lord. Clint graduated from Johnson High School in 1981 and went to work at the Gainsville Iron Works from where his Dad had retired several years eariler. Clint started dating a young lady named Tiana Reed but a year later tragedy would strike again as Tiana was discovered to have acute lukeiama. On January 15 1983 at the tender age of 16, Tiana went home to be with the Lord.

In June of 1983 Clint would have his first date with a young lady named Donna Ballew. Immediately Clint and Donna fell in love and just a few short weeks later on July 4, Clint would ask Donna to be his wife. September 24, 1983 Donna Ballew would become Donna Kerns as she and Clint were married at Faith Baptist Camp in Resaca. They would move to Gainesville and attend Harmony Street Baptist Church where Willard Thomas was the Pastor and where Clint had been working with the choir since 1980. They stayed there for a year and after a six month stay in Orangeburg, SC they would move to Resaca Georgia where they have resided ever since.

December 20, 1986 God would bless their home with a daughter, Lydia Faith. On May 19, 1997 Clint, Donna and Lydia’s life would change forever. Clint woke up on that May morning with a bad crick in his neck. He called Carriage Industries where he was working at the time and told them he would not be in and he made plans to visit a Chiorpracter but before he could make the appointment, he became deathly ill. He was transported to the Hospital but they could not determine what his illness was. Clint went home diagnosed with a stomach virus but two days later after waking up partially paralyzed Clint would be transported by Ambulance back to the hospital. When he arrived, his fever was over 105 and he was in a coma. About lunch time the Doctors finally made a diagnosis, Clint had menningococal bacterial spinal menningitis. The Doctor moved Clint to an isolated intensive care unit, prepared to put him on life support and notified his family that Clint had only a few hours to live. Within minutes of the diagnosis people were notified and within the hour thousands around the United States were calling Clint’s name in prayer. Three days later Clint woke up from the coma, and God continued to bless his recovery. Due to the high fever, Clint sufffered permanant hearing loss in his left ear and had to deal with the loss of balance due to nerve damage. As of this writing, ten years have passed since Clint’s illness, to this day he daily suffers the effects of spinal mennigitis but he is greatful to be alive.

December of 1997 would also bring more sorrow for Clint as he and Donna would spend ten weeks caring for Frances, Clint’s mother, as she had been diagnosed with cancer for the third time in ten years. This time the cancer was in the brain and Frances would go home to be with the Lord on December 16, 1997. God gave Clint grace to preach his mother’s funeral and he preached on memories of Momma. Several songs would also be written by Clint from his mother’s home going.

December of 2003 while working in the recording studio Clint suffered a heart attack and was transported to the hospital where testing would reveal that he had two blocked artries, one was 100% blocked and the other was 95% blocked. The Doctors did a heart catherization and inserted two stents in the blocked artries and Clint made a full recovery. However, six months later, in June of 2004 Clint would have to have a third stent placed in his heart due to scar tissue growing around one of the stents.

In December of 2005 Bro. Clint suffered another heart attack and had another stent. February of 2006 Bro. Clint suffered a stroke while in a meeting in Cairo, GA. Since that time, Bro. Clint has lost 100 pounds and is a new man. God has been gracious to Bro. Clint

Clint still resides in Resaca and is the director of the Concord Baptist Church Young People’s Revival Choir. Clint, Donna and Lydia will continue to travel the summers conducting Choir workshops, singing at revivals and camp meetings and Clint will continue to preach when God opens doors. Please keep Clint and the Kerns family in your prayers.
